Never trekked before? Plan to go hiking with your kids? Kheerganga is one of the best treks in the Himalayas for first-timers. Here's our story and a full guide to the Kheerganga trek in Parvati Valley so you can plan your own trip well.

Overview of the Trek to Kheerganga – Kasol, Himachal Pradesh

Length: 1 day

Level of difficulty: easy to moderate

Kheerganga Trek is 12-13 km long and costs between Rs 990 and Rs 1500 per person.

Kheerganga Trek Base: Barshaini

Kheerganga Trek routes:

March, April, May, and June are the best months for the Kheerganga Trek. We did the trek in mid-December. Avoid trekking during the snow.

Temperature: 8°C to 15°C during the day, and 0°C to 3°C at night.

How to Get to Kheerganga (Trekking Routes to Khir Ganga):

From Barshaini, you can go in three directions to Kheerganga.

Through Nakthan and Rudranag (13 km): This route is great for people who want to take photos, as it has stunning views. Cross the bridge after Barshaini and turn left at the Parvati river to get to the Nakthan route. This is the shortest and most popular route, and it takes a person to walk at a normal pace four 4-5 hours. Most people who want to hike to Kheerganga take the path through Nakthan.

Through Kalga (15 km): Compared to Nakthan and Rudranag, the Kheerganga Trek route through Kalga village is not as popular. Walk toward the right side of the bridge in Barshaini and head toward Kalga village to take this path. This path goes through thick forests.

Through Tosh Village: The Kheerganga trek route is different from the Tosh village route. This route is mostly used by travelers who spent the night in Tosh and planned to go to Kheerganga the following day.

Bairshani is the starting point for a trek to Kheer Ganga.

Barshaini is where the Kheerganga Trek starts and ends. This small but beautiful village only has a few places to stay and one restaurant. If you need to buy anything for the hike, you should do so here. From here, a small road goes to the village of Tosh, which is about 3 km from Barshaini. The village of Barshaini is right next to where the Parvati River flows down.
